50% Tariffs of Steel, Aluminum, and Derivatives

Updated June 9th: Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has updated attachments to import duties for both aluminum and steel and their derivative products to be consistent with the annexes to the June 3 Proclamation published in the Federal Register at 90 FR 24199, on June 9.

President Trump issued a proclamation on June 3, 2025 advising that tariffs on aluminum and steel imports will increase from 25% ad valorem to 50% ad valorem, effective 12:01 a.m. ET on June 4, 2025.

U.K. steel and aluminum imports, however, will remain at the 25% tariff rate through July 9 at which time the Commerce Secretary may adjust the applicable rates of duty, even increasing the duty to 50% if he determines that the U.K. has not complied with relevant aspects of the U.S.-U.K. Economic Prosperity Deal (EPD) of May 8, 2025.

Updated June 3rd: Customs and Border Protection (CBP), in response to President Trump’s June 3 proclamation to increase Section 232 steel and aluminum import duties from 25% to 50%, effective 12:01 a.m. ET June 4, provided the trade with updated entry filing instructions related to these imports.
