U.S. Delays Section 232 Tariff Increases for Upholstered Furniture and Kitchen Cabinets for Another Year

U.S. President Trump on December 31, 2025, signed a Proclamation to delay the anticipated Section 232 tariff increases for imports of upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets, and vanities for another year.

Under the initial September 29, 2025, presidential proclamation, the Section 232 tariff increases for imports of upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets, and vanities were set to take effect at 12:01 a.m. ET on January 1, 2026.

The current 25% import tariff on certain upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets, and vanities, as imposed under the September 25, 2025, Proclamation, however, remains in effect.
